WHEN JONAH IS IN YOUR BOAT (1) – Apostle Joshua Talena

(Jonah 1:4-5) But the Lord sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. Then the Mariners were afraid and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them.

Some businessmen were preparing to embark on a journey and they were gracious enough to allow a man who approached them to join them in the journey. In the course of their journey, a mighty tempest arose which brought about apparent threat to life and they lost all their goods yet the storm persisted. They had to consult their gods and among themselves, these men came to a conclusion that the storm was as a result of a man they had on board; he was being pursued by God for disobedience. Then they asked him, what is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you? Eventually, they threw him overboard when they saw that they could no longer harbor him and the sea raged no more(see Jonah 1:1-6

These businessmen put the cart before the horse, in that if they had conducted due diligence on the man before, they would not have carried him and subsequently their business would not have been depleted. This scenario sometimes happen to many children of God for the presence of Jonah only significe decrease, retrogression, losses and frustration.who has entered your life?? Do you know the person you want to befriend or do business with? Do you know your spouse? Or if you are not married yet (and you desire to ), to you know the person you intend to marry? Have you asked them any questions yet? Have you conducted due diligence on the person you do business with? You may not have to ask them directly but as you relate with them, open your eyes and mind to discern who you company with. The people in your life may endanger storm or calmness. Check them out.

Child of God, life is a journey and in this journey of life the company you move with will determine how far you can go and your level of accomplishment. It was after Lot had departed from Abraham that God spoke to him (Genesis 13:14) in as much as we need people to be able to move on this journey of life, we need most importantly God to be able to identify those to company with. Be careful and wise.

Meditation: do you know your company very well?

RM: the journey of life

Prayer: Lord expose every Jonah in my boat of life in Jesus name Amen.
