ATTRACTING GOD’S BLESSINGS (1) – Apostle Joshua Talena

Sunday 04 September 2022

(James 4:2 – NIV). You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask.

Many Christians want God to bless them, but they have not been able to do anything for God. All they are after is for God to bless them. They want houses, cars, connections, marriages, etc. No doubt, these things are good, and they are the blessings of God, but I want to let you know how to attract the blessings of God. Even in the House of God, many believers do not want to belong to a department or unit and even when they belong, they are docile in the affairs that pertains to the department, Church and God, but they want to be blessed. Below are some kingdom principles to attracting the blessing of God in one’s life:

  1. Doing Something for God: If you want God to bless you, do something for God. Instead of asking God to bless you, find something to do for God. Most blessings of God are tied to the instruction He gives. To attract the blessings of God, just do something for Him. I challenge you today to do something for God: write a book that direct people towards God, preach a sermon, teach God’s Word, evangelize to someone, sing a song, just do something extraordinary, and remarkable for the Lord, and you will see the blessings of God pursuing after you.
  2. Be Passionate about God: God blesses people who are passionate about Him. Anywhere God sees a passionate heart, he throws down his blessing. Passion is the longing of one’s heart. How can service be commencing by 7.00am and you as a church worker will be coming by 7.55am and you want God to bless you. God cannot be mocked, what you sow is what you reap (Galatians 6:7). Passionate people attracts the blessings of God. Some believers are Sunday-Sunday Christians. Many engage all on all sort of activities, ignoring Wednesday service. They are not passionate about God, yet they want to be blessed by God.
  3. Worship & Praise: God cannot worship and praise Himself. And so He moves when He gets worshipped and praised. There are many instances where God did wonders just when His creatures worship and praise Him. We read about how worship and praises brought down the mighty wall of Jericho and how prison doors and chains were let loose in the life of Paul and Silas. Worship and praise are platforms to attracting the blessing of God.

When Moses was looking for the intervention of God, God asked him, “What is in thy hand” And he said, a rod. It was the rod in Moses’ hand that God used to create a miracle for Moses. Throughout the Bible, God has a wonderful habit of using whatever a person possessed if that person would simply yield to God. Beloved, God wants to create a miracle in your life, He wants to use you to tell the world what He can do. He wants His signature in your life. Child of God, God wants to bless you, but for what will He bless you?

Meditation: Are you among those that just sit down in the House of God doing nothing?

RM: Requirement for the Blessing

Prayer: Father, I desire to do something in your house, grant me the passion required in Jesus name, Amen.
