Proverbs 14:31
He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker,But he who honors Him has mercy on the needy.
COMMENTARY:
The kingdom of God operates on a Justice system which discourages an unequal scale. God is very particular about the poor, thesame way He is to the rich. Our attitudes and reactions to the poor is a reflection of whether we honor God or not. If we claim to honor God, then our mercies must be unending to the poor, we must reach out to all those who have genuine needs, and help them based on our capacity.
We must be mindful as believers to desist from the oppressive tendencies which are associated by the world’s system which substitutes riches and fame for love, thereby rejecting and debasing the poor amongst us.
The poor should be treated with respect, and our interactions should give them hope,dignity, because those who oppress the poor have no respect for God.
