FOCUS ON YOUR GOAL (2) – Apostle Joshua Talena

(Luke 10:41-42) And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

In continuation of what I started sharing with you yesterday, I want you to know that Apostle Paul was single-minded in his devotion: “one thing I do,” he said, press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Paul then explains how the Philippians might also stay focused on the goal. The Apostle Paul modeled that same kind of focus. He was motivated to continue his race by keeping his eyes on the goal before him; thus, he kept on keeping on despite hardship, persecution, and opposition.

To get where you believe God wants you to go and be what you know God wants you to be, there are several steps you need to take that will get you focused.

Steps to reach your goal:
Determine your present position – Genesis 24:1. You’ve got to know where you are before you can know where you are going.
Be specific about what you want. In order to get to where you want to be, you need to describe exactly what you want.
Look for God’s promise Genesis 24:7. When you set a goal, don’t focus on the problems, focus on the promises. Don’t look at your limitations; look at the promises of God.
Ask God to help you – Genesis 24:12. Once you have found your promise in God’s Word, pray and ask God for success, just as Eliazar did.

When you set a goal, don’t focus on the problems, focus on the promises of God. Find a promise in God’s Word that will take you to your goal. This is what Abraham did when Eliazar, his servant, starts to worry about accomplishing the goal he was given.

Meditation: When you set a goal, don’t focus on the problems, focus on the promises of God.

Prayer: O Lord, anoint me with power to remain focused as I run the race so that I can obtain the prize in Jesus Name, Amen.
