Anne and Charlie looked at their mother who was lying on the sofa. After she ended her call, she dropped her phone on the center table. She greeted them and began to climb up the stairs. Within fraction of a second she came tumbling down after she missed her steps. The loud cry of Lisa jolted her children who were still at the dining table.
Anne rushed to the side of her mother to lift her from the floor. Lisa kept screaming and Anne was confused about the whole incident. On second thought, she picked her mother’s phone from the center table and dialled Pastor Helen. Within 10 minutes, Pastor Helen arrived and met Lisa sitting on the armchair writhing in pain. When she saw the extent of her bruised head and swollen hand, she took her to the hospital immediately.
After reviewing the X-rays, the doctor informed her that she had dislocated the lunate bone in her left wrist. Plaster cast was put on her hand and she came back home later. She began to go for check up regularly. The first two weeks were a bit tough for her as she wasn’t able to undertake her normal activities but Anne shouldered her responsibilities with maturity in the house. Pastor Helen and Debby regularly paid a visit to her and prayed for her quick recovery.
After a month, Debby informed her about Dennis and how the Lord confirmed His will with convictions and signs. Lisa rejoiced with her and thanked God for His faithfulness. She remembered how Debby constantly assured her of God’s promises to her. Habakkuk 2 verse 3 was one of God’s promises to her.
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
She would tell Lisa that the vision of her blissful marriage will surely come to pass for faithful is the God who had promised her. Lisa didn’t understand how a woman above 30 years would relax on God’s promises and not fret. Lisa got married at the age of 25 and climbed up the ladder of success in her career without any hitch except in her marriage. However, Debby didn’t allow the dry season of her life to derail her from following God. Debby once shared what a man of God preached the importance of patience in life.
“A man waited on the Lord for three years after the Lord had promised he would give him the right woman. The Lord even told him to do what the waiters do, that is, to serve. He kept serving God as a Sunday school teacher until he began to be anxious. God encouraged him that his ministry would prosper if he married the right woman. After three years, he dreamt of one of the new comers in the church and concluded she must be the right woman. The sister ticked the boxes of his dream woman. God warned him and later directed his Pastor to warn him against marrying her but he ignored it. He got married and after two months, the brother turned back from following the Lord, developed a strange sickness and died mysteriously.”
She made up her mind to wait for the Lord no matter what. However, this didn’t stop Lisa from pestering her but she stood her ground.
After a week, Lisa went to the hospital for check-up and was about coming out when he saw a man with a bandage on his head and a Plaster of Paris on his left leg with underarm crutches. Later, the man was standing by the roadside waiting for a taxi when Lisa stood beside him attempting to cross the road. The voice of the man on the phone attracted Lisa to take a look at him and behold, he was her husband. Lisa didn’t know how she held him to confirm if he was for real. Immediately Pascal saw her, he burst into tears. Their hearts yearned for each other as they held their hands and moved away from the roadside.
Just like the biblical prodigal son who came back after squandering his father’s wealth, Pascal turned to his wife and started begging her to forgive him. Lisa didn’t mind her own predicament but asked what happened to him.
Pascal narrated his ordeal with tears,
“I was in…
