Discipline is action or inaction that is regulated to be in accordance (or to achieve accord) with a system of governance. Discipline can be a set of expectations that are required by any governing entity including self, groups, classes, fields, industries, or societies.
Competence, on the other hand refers to a cluster of related abilities, commitments, knowledge, and skills that enable a person (or an organization) to act effectively in a job or situation. Competency is that you are capable of performing a task or job effectively. Competency, therefore, may incorporate a skill, but are more than the skill, it include abilities and behaviours, as well as knowledge that is fundamental to the use of a skill. Competence means to be sufficiently equipped to perform assigned task or having suitable or sufficient skill, knowledge, experience, etc., for some purpose. It is to be properly qualified. Competency is the capacity of a person to understand a situation and to act reasonably. Competence means that you have the ability to do something well.
Diligence is one of the heavenly virtues. Diligent behavior is indicative of a work ethic; a belief that works is good in itself. Diligence is carefulness and persistent effort or work.Diligent Service refers to carefulness exhibited in executing a given assignment. Therefore, for you to render quality and diligent service, you must be competent and disciplined. Competence and discipline is required in order to render effective and diligent service. As a child of God, full of the Holy Ghost, you should be disciplined and diligent. The Holy Spirit is not only for speaking in tongues, but also for knowledge in carrying out diligent service. You should know how to do things. The Holy Spirit gives us dexterity and competence. The Holy Spirit gives us abilities and sharpens our skills to perform. As a child of God, you should not be doing things anyhow. You should be meticulous and exceptional in performance and in carrying out given responsibility.
Meditation: The Holy Spirit is not only for speaking in tongues, but also for knowledge in carrying out diligent service. You should know how to do things.
