Today’s Word [30/06/2021]: Going After The Lost

Bible Text:

Matthew 18:11

For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.

Jesus Christ gave a parable of a sheep which strayed away from a herd of sheeps, and the zeal it takes the shepherd in seeking to restore the lost sheep back to its fold (Mathew 18:12-14). This is the gospel of Jesus Christ, which constitutes the focal point to the assignment that was handed over to every disciple of Christ (Mark 16:15-16).

The duty of every believer is to go after the lost, irrespective of their geo-location, ethnicity or disposition, with the aim of redirecting the lost to Jesus Christ (John 14:6 Luke 19:10), and not to following worthless fables and the religion of men (Collosians 2:8, 1 Timothy 1:4)

What is our duty?

1. We must understand our assignment as believers (Mark 16:15) – Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ for the purpose of soul winning. We are not mockers, neither are we jesters.

2. We must be discipled in Christ, before we can disciple others (Mathew 28:18-20, 2 Timothy 2:2). You cannot take a person through an experience that you are not familiar with.

3. We must be all about our Father’s business (Luke 2:49) – getting passionately engaged in Kingdom Assignment.

4. We must conduct ourselves as men and women of light, that our Father in Heaven may be glorified (Mathew 5:14-16).

God bless You.
